xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLee Godie with rolled canvases
Brrr, winter is almost here. That means cold noses, cold fingers, cold feet, and that Headwrapping School's 2009 year is soon to be underway. In preparation, we are presently revamping the architecture of our facade, unrolling the wrappings and cleaning up what's underneath. Underneath the wrapping, where the Headwrapper's roots go back to Southeastern Wisconsin.
This is a call to any other closet French Impressionists out there, especially those enamored of the life and work of Lee Godie. Come join our gang! I was in elementary school in the 50s, 80 miles north of where Godie and Henry Darger were working at that time. And although I've wandered far and wide since then, as they say, you always return to your roots... or something like that.
In the past year we have had questions posed as to just what Headwrapping School is all about. We had thought it self explanatory but perhaps not. So, inspired by Godie, Headwrapping School has decided to annex a sub-title to our Moniker. "Headwrapping School: a school of French Impressionism . . . ". We hope that this will serve to clear up any further confusion.
